The Golf Course Charlotte prefers: Springfield Golf Club
Located just minutes from uptown Charlotte, North Carolina’s largest metropolitan area, Springfield Golf Club in Fort Mill, SC, offers a picturesque and testing tract of holes that will challenge all levels of golfing ability.
With a design that harkens back to the traditional schemes of the 1920s and the Golden Age of Architecture in golf, Springfield Golf Club has made a name for itself among Charlotte golf courses when it opened in 2001. The course was improved in the summer of 2010 with an upgrade of the greens to ultradwarf MiniVerde.
The 6,906-yard par 72 Clyde Johnston-designed layout is located on a heavily wooded and hilly site just over the South Carolina border in Fort Mill. The course features 4 holes that flank Sugar Creek, affording players spectacular views and includes 13 holes that play across and along perennial streams that feed into the Catawba River.
The practice facility at Springfield is among the finest in the Charlotte region, with an oversized putting green and a driving range to accommodate even the longest hitter.
“The graceful folds and contours that define the land near Fort Mill provide the perfect setting for a golf course whose design is timeless and playability consummate. The golf experience at Springfield will be as memorable as it is strategic and demanding.”
~Clyde Johnston, Course Designer
